What does serialization / track-and-trace require to sell in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf (GS1, aggregation, RSD)?

Why this happens

Each market's serialization rules differ; missing the GS1 identifiers, the aggregation hierarchy, or the national reporting portal (e.g. Saudi RSD) blocks release even after the product is registered.

تختلف قواعد الترميز بين الأسواق؛ وغياب معرّفات GS1 أو تسلسل التجميع أو بوابة الإبلاغ الوطنية (مثل RSD السعودية) يمنع الإفراج حتى بعد تسجيل المنتج.

What to do, step by step

1. Assign GS1 identifiers (GTIN) and print a serialized 2D DataMatrix — GTIN + serial + batch + expiry — on every saleable unit.
2. Implement aggregation (unit → bundle → case → pallet parent-child) where the market requires it.
3. Connect to the national track-and-trace portal and report commissioning/shipping events (Saudi RSD via SFDA; verify each Gulf state's system).
4. Validate the packaging line and the EPCIS data exchange before running commercial batches.
